What is Doctor's Day?

In honor of our hardworking and dedicated physicians, the Northampton County Medical Society Alliance celebrated Doctor's Day this year by making monetary donations to:

  • St. Luke's Pediatrics' Department
  • Two Rivers Health & Wellness Foundation on behalf of Easton Hospital

In addition, we collected gently used children's books for St. Luke's pediatrics and were on hand to distribute cookies and flowers to physicians at Easton's Doctor's Day breakfast.

Doctor's Day was established to show appreciation for the devotion and dedication physicians give to their patients.  The day was the brainchild of Mrs. Charles B Almond, a physician's wife, who presented the idea to her local auxiliary.  The first Doctor's Day was celebrated on March 30, 1933 in Barrow County, Georgia.  Congress adopted a resolution designating March 30 as Doctor's   Day in 1958 and President Bush declared the date National Doctor's Day in 1990.
