Doctor's Day was established to show appreciation for the devotion and dedication physicians give to their patients. The day was the brainchild of Mrs. Charles B Almond, a physician's wife, who presented the idea to her local auxiliary. The first Doctor's Day was celebrated on March 30, 1933 in Barrow County, Georgia. Congress adopted a resolution designating March 30 as Doctor's Day in 1958 and President Bush declared the date National Doctor's Day in 1990.
